Safe Routes to School is coming to Schuster this August. Schuster has been selected to participate in the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program. EPISD is working hard to ensure the safety of children traveling to and from school and improve fitness levels.
Goals:
*Increase the number of children who walk and bike to school.
*Follow the safest routes to walk and bike to school and suggest safety improvements to those routes.
*Develop ways to encourage more children to use those routes and recruit parents and neighbors to accompany children to school. A Walking School Bus is an activity where parent participation is highly encouraged.
*Increase EPISD police presence before and after school to reduce traffic congestion in and around the school.
*Students in grades 3-5 will successfully complete a 5 day training/testing during PE class.
*134 Bicycles will be awarded per year to students in grades 3-5 who meed the criteria outlined in the student contract.
